Abstract

In recent years, the advancement of digital technologies has revolutionized the field of cultural heritage management by providing innovative tools for capturing, preserving, and disseminating historical artifacts and architectural sites. This study explores the integration of virtual reality (VR) tools into the realm of cultural heritage education and training, aiming to develop a methodology tailored to facilitate training activities focused on the management of historical hydraulic work in Battiferro. By utilizing VR technology, users are provided with immersive experiences within digitally recreated environments, allowing for high-resolution, three-dimensional visualization and real-time interaction with virtual objects. The methodology outlined in this dissertation encompasses several key objectives, including the creation of a detailed digital model of Battiferro's hydraulic system using Historical Building Information Modeling (HBIM) techniques, the design and development of a user-friendly VR environment in Unity, the implementation of interactive features to enhance the training experience, and the evaluation of the VR environment through user testing and feedback analysis. Through the seamless integration of VR technology and cultural heritage management, this study aims to revolutionize the way historical artifacts and sites are preserved, studied, and disseminated for educational purposes. Additionally, future advancements in VR technology, such as the incorporation of audio and more interactive actions, hold promise for further enhancing the immersive learning experience and encouraging users to actively engage in the training process.
