Abstract

This thesis explores the design, development, and evaluation of a .NET-based software solution to enhance automation in supply chain management. It addresses key challenges in internal logistics, including optimizing buffer cell utilization, ensuring seamless communication across systems, and maintaining production continuity in dynamic environments. The solution features real-time communication, advanced algorithms for evaluating packaging line and buffer cell autonomy, execution of supply requests across systems managing stock and product transportation, and a user-friendly web interface for monitoring and management. Developed in collaboration with the Onit Spa Automation Business Unit and implemented in Orogel's packaging department, the software integrates with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) to streamline operations. While tailored to Orogel's specific needs, the system's modular and flexible design allows for easy adaptation to similar industrial contexts. This adaptability makes the solution applicable to different companies or sectors facing comparable logistical challenges. By leveraging state-of-the-art technologies, the software provides a strong foundation for future innovations in logistics automation, offering scalable improvements for industries with evolving operational needs.
