Abstract

This thesis presents the structural analysis and design of the GCC Pavilion in Doha, Qatar, carried out in accordance with Eurocodes and international standards. The superstructure was modelled as a composite steel–concrete system, designed to resist dead, live, wind, and seismic loads, with verification against ultimate and serviceability limit states. Seismic input was defined using regional hazard studies, with a conservative PGA of 0.08 g adopted and spectra generated according to Eurocode 8 for soil type D. Global checks were performed using CMP software, while joint verification employed IDEA StatiCa based on the CBFEM method. The foundation was designed as a 40 cm raft on Winkler springs, confirmed safe against bearing failure and serviceability settlements
