Abstract

This thesis presents a comprehensive finite element modeling and structural analysis of the Valgadena Bridge, a prestressed concrete segmental box girder bridge constructed between 1986 and 1990. The study examines the bridge’s construction methodology and structural characteristics. A finite element model was developed using SAP2000, and its accuracy was validated through comparison with experimental static and dynamic load tests. The research identifies potential structural issues, including concrete deterioration and long-term deflections, while assessing the effectiveness of monitoring systems and compliance with updated regulations. The findings contribute to improving the maintenance and safety of existing prestressed concrete bridges.
