Abstract

In the demanding field of motorsport, the development of high-performance traction inverters is crucial for achieving optimal power delivery and efficiency. This work presents the design and optimization of a low-voltage, high-current traction inverter tailored for motorsport applications. The system is built around a three-PCB stack architecture, comprising a power PCB, a logic PCB, and a DC-link PCB. The DC-link board is designed to ensure minimal input voltage ripple and enhanced power density. The power PCB is engineered for efficient current handling and thermal management, while the logic PCB ensures precise control and communication with vehicle systems. Additionally, the mechanical structure has been optimized both internally and externally to enhance thermal dissipation, reduce weight, and improve reliability under extreme conditions. The resulting inverter design achieves a balance between performance, packaging efficiency, and robustness, making it well-suited for high-power electric propulsion in motorsport applications.
