Abstract
As IoT (Internet of Things) devices continue to expand, it becomes necessary the adoption of more progressive security mechanisms to protect against evolving threats and safeguarding data, privacy, and system integrity. The Manufacturer Usage Description model is a policy definition standard that guarantees greater security and safety when communicating with one or more devices. This is because every device has a sort of "Identity Card" that describes its intended usage. This thesis project is focused on the creation of a proof-of-concept (PoC) to integrate an existing open-source tool called osMUD, involving the use of X.509 certificates to identify communicating things in a network.
