Abstract
With the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the increased adoption of advanced technologies, throughput performance in uplink is becoming increasingly crucial because these new services require higher data traffic, lower latency and better reliability. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the performance in terms of throughput that a 5G Uplink MU-MIMO feature can provide when implemented on a Base-Band Unit (BBU). To exploit the Multi-User technique in the uplink 5G, the scheduler allows multiple users within a cell to simultaneously transmit independent data on the same Physical Resource Blocks (PRBs): this leads to a significant improvement of the spectral efficiency.
