Abstract

In recent years, Mergers and Acquisitions have become a major driver of economic growth worldwide. Companies are merging to create a larger business and strengthen their market position. On the other hand, these tools bring difficult conditions for the functioning of businesses. Therefore, they empower new changes for Innovation strategies, which is the key to efficient development and long-term strategic planning. The work is aimed to determine the relationship and impact of innovative development strategies and Mergers and Acquisitions transactions in multinational corporations. Special scientific analyses have been presented by comparative, systemic, and institutional methods. As a result of the multidisciplinary and comprehensive study, the topics of Mergers and Acquisitions and Innovation strategies have been separately researched. Also, a comparative table of the 22 most influential M&A deals of the last decade has been presented. A detailed analysis of EssilorLuxottica S.A. and its strategic path has been implemented presenting the Group’s Brand-product matrix, Brand architecture, and Brand hierarchy. Later, cases of the Innovation strategy of EssilorLuxottica S.A. have been considered using the examples of the latest transactions for the acquisition of Heidelberg Engineering and Supreme. A retrospective analysis of EssilorLuxottica's acquisition of GrandVision has also been performed. The main results and implications of the work have been presented in the Conclusion.
