Abstract

Digitalisation represents a transformative force reshaping human interactions and business models, driven by the integration of digital technologies. Historically, methodologies in design and system analysis have evolved from rigid, linear models to more cyclical flexible, iterative approaches. This evolution reflects the complexity and dynamic nature of problems faced by companies. Design methodologies have always been applied since industrial automation, and the early models focused on creating structured steps which aimed at reducing complexity and fostering innovation through collaborative thinking. However, techniques have advanced significantly since the introduction of digital technology. It enabled more precise and capable design processes. In fact, modern methodologies emphasise iterative steps, allowing for continuous improvement and adaptation to technologies. In this elaborate will be firstly explored two well-known approaches Soft Systems Methodology (SSM), which was used to construct models to understand real-world issues and generate actionable insights, and SSADM which aimed to develop more computerised management models for organisations. Secondly it will be analysed the IMPROvE methodology created by Capventis, a business management company which delivers digital solution since 1998. The company developed a versatile and efficient approach for clients in order to foster value creation. This methodology focuses on client specific outcomes and due to its iterative nature makes a robust framework for modern business challenges. By aligning business objectives with innovative technology solutions, IMPROvE ensures that clients can achieve sustainable growth and competitive advantage. This methodology integrates theoretical and practical aspects, facilitating tailored solutions that drive organisational success. It entails a repetitive process of ongoing improvement, to ensure strategies stay relevant and effective in dynamic business environments.
