Abstract
Exploring the application of data compression techniques in IoT environments and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), with a particular focus on sensor networks in wind turbines. It examines two main scenarios: Data Transmission Only When Acquisition Stops and Transmitting Data While Acquiring. An introduction to both lossy and lossless data compression sets the stage for the presentation of two algorithms from each category. The study includes a comparative analysis of these algorithms, highlighting their potential performance in the specified scenarios. Through this research, we aim to contribute to the optimization of data transmission for IoT devices, highlighting the value of effective data compression in real-time monitoring systems.
