Abstract
An asphalt pavement is characterized by different features, among them permeability and environmental impact play an important role. Permeability is typical of Porous Asphalt (PA) wearing courses, which are generally Hot Mix Asphalts (HMA). On the other hand, Cold Mix Asphalt (CMA) incorporating Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) is a sustainable solution to reduce the environmental impact of HMA.
This thesis is a laboratory investigation, concerning the production of recycled porous asphalt concretes using the CMA technique. The scope is to study three different cold porous asphalt mixtures, having different percentages of RAP. The study was conducted analyzing the mechanical and physical characteristics: air void content, permeability, indirect tensile stiffness modulus and indirect tensile strength and verifying the Italian requirements. The specimens were produced in the laboratory of the University of Bologna, meanwhile the mechanical and physical tests were executed in the laboratory of Pavenco s.r.l of Ferrara.
