Software Migration: Developing a Migration Plan for TeamSystem Hospitality

Over the past decade, the urgency of Software Migration from On-premise to Cloud-based solutions has grown significantly, becoming imperative for maintaining competitiveness in the technological market. This study delves into this issue, focusing on the case of TeamSystem SpA, a medium-large Italian Software House which is developing a new Cloud-based Software and therefore faces the challenge of developing a Customer Migration Plan, a fundamental component for a comprehensive Software Migration. The path for creating this Plan is composed by the steps which create the backbone of the thesis; these steps range from Domain Knowledge acquisition, Data Analysis and Standardization, Algorithms Creation, and even the Creation of Project Summary Visualizations. All of these activities were mapped out and executed without strict planning: everything was decided on the run according to the evolving needs. In most of these themes, external sources are used in order to enrich the fundamental concepts developed in this thesis. The end result is the creation of the Customer Migration Plan, a valuable output that brings benefits to all the stakeholders involved in the development of the new Cloud-based solution, ranging from developers to sales representatives.
