Spreading your Winx: analisi dell’adattamento inglese della serie animata Winx Club

The following dissertation presents a detailed linguistic analysis of the English dubbings of the animated series Winx Club, pride product of the Italian company Rainbow S.p.A. exported worldwide since 2004. Although the first section of this dissertation is going to cover a more general and theoretical side of dubbing, as well as dubbing into English specifically, the main focus of the second and third sections is to analyze the differences between the original Italian version and the English dubbings of two episodes of the series. The object of this dissertation is to prove whether the characteristics of each dubbing reveal to be true when applied to specific episodes, as well as discussing into detail the differences in adaptation that the series underwent to ensure its popularity around the globe and finding out which version is the best suited to be consumed by an English-speaking audience.
