Abstract

In this work I show a wide view of the IoT world, from sensors to networks, concentrators, links and web servers. Main IoT sensors are presented, with focus on water treatment and agricultural applications. Economics and savings of this solution are estimated, and a ROI of the whole investment is calculated. Some IoT industry applications are presented, with focus on remote areas operations, where remote monitoring is effectively a cost advantage over traditional approach. LoRa solution is then compared to the main competitors. A functioning system is shown in the city of São José dos Campos - SP. The firm and its history is briefly narrated, as the product catalogue is shown in his key components. The key concepts and business model are analysed. A list of companies behind this product is presented and I justify in detail the reasons to choose this particular products and services and the reasons to believe it is the best bet for the future. I will then detail a marketing plan for the product’s launch and development, detailing strategies, investments and performance indicators. Finally I make a comparison with different markets and evaluate opportunities on those ones, focusing on Europe, and Italy in particular. In the conclusions I suggest three different business approaches to IoT market and highlight key differences and challenges for marketing managers willing to lead an agricultural IoT business operation.
