      Abstract
The purpose of this work is to present the Italian translation of a series of collected poems about love, written by Russian contemporary female poets. This dissertation presents six female writers, in order to offer a general overview of contemporary Russian female poetry and to compare their different styles. Some of these poets are very famous both in Russia and abroad, but all of them are appreciated by the public and the critics. With the exceptions of Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva, Russian female poetry is still barely known in Italy. This work aims at introducing lesser-known and new female poets to the Italian public. They talk about problems of everyday life: about feelings, such as love and tenderness, and situations, happy wedding life or betrayal, that are typical of Italian life too. Nevertheless, in every poem there are some cultural elements that, together with the linguistic peculiarities of the Russian language and of poetry itself, represent the greatest challenge for a translator and are discussed in the central part of this dissertation. The present work is divided into five chapters. In the first, there is a brief overview of the history of Russian poetry of the XX century. The second chapter presents an analysis of the last fifteen years of poetry in Russia. In the third chapter the six poets are presented, along with their biography, explanation of their styles, and the translation of selected poems. The fourth chapter deals with the analysis of the translation process along with comments. Linguistic issues, cultural differences, and stylistic problems are discussed together with the strategies adopted, and the solutions found. Lastly, we draw our conclusions.
