Abstract
This thesis investigates the structural behaviour of the historical Ponte di Caltrano bridge through analytical and numerical approaches under gravity and seismic loading conditions. Different finite element models were developed using SAP2000 in order to evaluate the interaction between masonry and reinforced concrete
components. The study combines historical investigation, graphical thrust-line methods, sectional verifications, and 3D finite element modelling. The results show that the masonry arches behave predominantly in compression and that most reinforced concrete elements satisfy the Ultimate Limit State requirements. The seismic analyses indicate satisfactory global structural behaviour with limited displacements, while the main longitudinal beam represents the most critical reinforced concrete element.
