Abstract

As the video game industry presents a florid environment for agent development, this thesis has the purpose of showcasing how both AI researchers and game developers could learn from each other's findings. To do so, I briefly introduce the game agent environment and the techniques developed that are used in current commercial productions, before exposing the challenges that are faced by AI researchers and developers and the research opportunities available. Finally, I will go over a couple of simple examples that show how it's possible to implement novel AI techniques in commercial applications, revealing how both AI researchers and game developers could learn from each other's experiences.
