Abstract
This Master Thesis is the result of the internship that has taken place in the Revuelto Project Management team of Automobili Lamborghini, where the team constantly monitor the entire product lifecycle to satisfy time and budget constraints, rather than helping to solve inter-functional problems. Through this paper it will be possible to understand the procedures and precautions needed to successfully produce a competitive product satisfying company and market requests.
The first chapter introduce the lector to the company describing its history, growth and development plan for the next decade. The second chapter describes the company organization and the role of the product line to better explain the importance of the project management inside a company. Chapter three then explains the framework used by the product line to efficacy develop the vehicles, keeping synchronized all the activities that regard the specific product under development. Chapter four compares different software development approaches, analyzing methods and procedures taken out by the company to develop, implement and test software and hardware components. With chapter five it will be explained the software used to track and address the problems found during all the product life cycle, from the development to the customer daily usage. Finally, the last chapter explain the activity carried out during the internship, describing the deviation process that allows the company to evaluate problem severity and its solution; it will be then reported a real example of blocking issue for the production and the alternative routes established to overcome the problem and reduce as minimum the impact on time and cost. For reasons of confidentiality and data secrecy, only those notions strictly necessary for the explanation of the problem are reported, thus omitting all sensitive data.
