Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) has introduced a significant evolution in industrial operations, enabling the connection and interaction between devices and systems to optimize production processes.
This master degree’s thesis proposes the application of a real case study in the IoT field for the monitoring and production progress of a plant for the production of electro-conductive gel for diagnostic tests.
To arrive at the definition of the case study, it was started with a detailed analysis of the fundamental concepts of IoT, including communication protocols, the different system architectures adopted in the industry and a comprehensive analysis of the state of the art.
The focus then shifts to the integration of two key components: Microsoft's Azure IoT Hub, a robust platform for managing and analyzing IoT data, and SAP Business One, a widely adopted enterprise management system.
Finally, the business case study illustrating the practical implementation of an IoT system for monitoring and progressing production of the . The architectural details, the design of the various components of the system and the results obtained through the use of this IoT solution are examined.
In conclusion, this thesis provides a comprehensive overview of fundamental IoT concepts, communication protocols and system architectures, as well as an in-depth analysis of enabling technologies. The business case study demonstrates the practical application of these concepts in an industrial context, highlighting the benefits of adopting IoT solutions for monitoring and progressing production.
