Abstract

Sequence-defined polymers possess perfectly defined primary structures as each monomer unit is defined at a designated position within the sequence. Information can be controlled at the molecular level in the polymer chains, leading to many applications such as in medical and electronical fields. The polymers synthesized in this thesis are conductive materials, thus allowing to combine electrical conduction typical of metals with lightness, workability and processability typical of polymers themselves. As sequence-defined polymers require difficult and laborious syntheses, a new AB+CD method for the oligomers synthesis has been proposed. All the oligomers obtained have been extensively characterized by various techniques (GPC, 1H-NMR,13C-NMR, Mass Spectroscopy, UV-VIS, Fluorescence). The oligomers will be coupled together to obtain sequence-defined polymers by a new modular approach proposed in this project.
