Abstract

Human gait analysis is a standard laboratory procedure utilized in many clinical facilities for the evaluation and rehabilitation of people with gait dysfunction or disorders of movement. However, gait analysis remains a subjective visual examination process in most of clinical practices. Indeed, contemporary commercially available solutions for gait analysis do not meet the needs of clinical professionals who have limited access to expensive equipment or time for data collection and analysis. In the light of the evident limitations in clinical applicability and usability of the classic gait analysis approaches to evaluate human motor functions, the present project aims at developing an innovative model to cumulatively define the motor status of a human being by analyzing kinematic data captured by IMU sensors during few minutes of walking.
