Feeling left behind - The Incel Movement and its ties to women's emancipation

From North America to Europe, during the last decade the word “incel” has entered public discourse as a synonym for utter misogyny and staggering acts of violence. Composed of men who complain about their sexual inactivity, the Incel Movement has been found to be behind multiple instances of online threats to women as well as true acts of terrorism. This thesis seeks to contribute to the prevention of future incel-related violence by bringing to the forefront the reasons for the spread of incel-type ideology and suggesting ways in which to reduce its influence on boys and young men.
