Abstract
The possibility of utilising recycled carbon fibres in short CFs reinforced thermoplastic composites has been evaluated. The effect of compatibilizer (PP-g-MA) has been studied to increase the adhesion between matrix and reinforcement. Thermal and mechanical analysis have been performed to verify the effect of compatibilizer and to elucidate the differences in performances between composite made with vCFs and rCFs. The determination of fibre length in all the composte has been done to see the material processing effect on CFs present in the composite. The interphase between matrix and reinforcement has been analysed to verify the results obtained by the thermal and mechanical analysis. A comparison between the composites produced with virgin carbon fibres and with recycled CFs has been performed to evaluate the possible use of recycled fibres in the CFRP.
