Abstract

In recent years many technologies target the improvement of the IT infrastructure and the management of resources. This thesis aims to investigate the roles and goals of the Composable Disaggregated Infrastructures, paying particular attention to Liqid: a composable infrastructure hardware and software platform that allows users to manage, scale and configure physical bare-metal server systems in seconds. Another type of infrastructure, the Converged Infrastructure, is then introduced exposing some limitations that can be managed using Redfish: a standard designed to deliver simple and secure management for converged, hybrid IT, and the Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) in a human readable and machine capable way using common Internet and web services standards. Then, the OpenFabric Management Framework is introduced: a framework for orchestrating multiple infrastructures using Redfish, with a particular focus on the implementation of a new model for the agent registration to OFMF. The final part of the thesis regards the design and the implementation of a testing framework for Composable Disaggregated Infrastructures that aims to set up machines on multiple infrastructures, run a selection of benchmarks on them, and plot the results, with an analysis and comparison of the performances of two equal machines on different infrastructures (Liqid and bare metal) in the last section.
