La traduzione assistita al servizio delle imprese: Un’esperienza nel settore cosmetico

This dissertation involved the translation from Italian into Russian of the website, leaflets, and technical files of some products of the company Cosmomack S.r.l. This thesis is part of the eighth edition of the Language Toolkit Project, the result of a collaboration between the Department of Interpretation and Translation of Forlì (University of Bologna) and the Chamber of Commerce of Romagna Romagna, which aims to support the internationalisation process of small and medium-sized enterprises. This dissertation consists of four chapters. The first chapter briefly describes the Language Toolkit project together with the company for which the translation job order was carried out, as well as providing fundamental notions concerning internationalisation and localisation. The second chapter delves into theoretical concepts of source text analysis and translation approaches. The chapter also describes the various stages of translation and offers an analysis of the source text in question. The third chapter deals with the tools used for translation, with a focus on Computer-Assisted Translation tools (CAT tools). The chapter illustrates how these tools are becoming increasingly popular among translators and why they proved particularly useful for carrying out the translation subject of this work. Specifically, the CAT tool selected for this dissertation is Trados Studio, to which a section of chapter three is dedicated. Lastly, the third chapter presents an outline of the work methodology employed during the translation process, namely, the creation of a bilingual Italian-Russian glossary, included as an appendix to this thesis. Finally, the fourth and last chapter is dedicated to a commentary on the translation conducted through an analysis of the interventions made on the source text itself and its lexicon, syntax, style, and register. This chapter includes several examples from the translation at hand, which is in turn included as an appendix to this dissertation.
