Abstract

The scope of this thesis is to illustrate the process that has been carried out during the agile development of the smart insoles, done for the start-up eSteaps. eSteps borns in 2020 in Bologna from the current CEO Nidhal Loucichi. The company was originally a spin-off of Alma Mater Studiorum Bologna and it was mainly focused on sport related fields, in particular the objective was to build smart, auto energized, insoles able to retrieve sensible data of the walk and running behaviour. Now, eSteps, is a digital health start-up that aim to give multiple sclerosis patients a way to be monitored from doctors, in order to determine the proper medicine intake that has to be provided. The monitoring is done using the smart insoles developed. Those devices are able to communicate important data of patient's steps using the current eSteps mobile application as a bridge with the doctor dashboard. The growth of the company is very robust in the last period, new contracts with opinion leaders are carried out and migration to USA is a plan for the year 2022. The scenario counts some competitors of eSteps at the moment. Different devices are deployed from those companies with scopes close to eSteps.
