Abstract
Polypropylene is the second-most widely demanded commodity plastic. LyondellBasell is leading this market by producing and licensing the technologies to produce it; however, these technologies use a significant amount of energy in the form of electricity and steam.
Market trends, continuous competition and new strict policies drive LyondellBasell to improve and optimize the existing processes as sustainability impact becomes more challenging.
On this project we propose new sustainable configurations, that can be applied in some sections of the actual processes, and that will potentially reduce the CO2 emissions and energy consumptions in a remarkable way. By improving energy efficiency, resources are reduced to a minimum, reaping benefits for the environment.
